Update on ISO standard for sign language interpreters

Project Category:
Ongoing research/projects
Project Description:

The first ISO standard on signed language interpretation has just been published as a DIS (Draft International Standard): ISO/DIS 17651-4. The ISO/DIS 17651-4 has now been submitted to all ISO national standard bodies to comment and vote on, before moving on to the next phase. This is an important step forward as it provides for the first time detailed guidance on the working environment of signed language interpreters and related equipment.

Authors:
Maya de Wit is project leader of ISO/DIS 17651-4 and project editors Mark Schofield (ISO WG3 member on behalf of AIIC) and Isabelle Heyerick (ISO WG3 member on behalf of WASLI).
